Las Vegas Child Support Lawyer

Child support is an issue that you will need to look at in your divorce or legal separation if you have children. In a contested or uncontested divorce , this issue is typically addressed after a custody arrangement is worked out, as the non-custodial parent would usually be required to pay child support to the custodial parent.

Whether you are a parent seeking child support or are facing the reality that you may be required to pay child support, you may benefit from involving a lawyer experienced in handling issues of this kind. For a free review of your case, we welcome you to contact a Las Vegas child support lawyer at Gordon Law Offices. We are dedicated attorneys with almost 60 years of combined legal experience to apply to our clients' cases.

How is Child Support Determined?

In Nevada, child support amounts are determined based upon set guidelines, standardizing the manner in which child support is determined. The income of each spouse, the number of children, and the physical timeshare with the children are the primary factors considered in determining child support for a Las Vegas divorce or legal separation.

Generally, 18% of gross monthly income will be allocated for child support, if there is one child. If there are two children, the percentage rises to 25%, and continues to rise depending on the number of children. The court may also consider the amount of time that the child spends with each parent, the medical and educational needs of the child, and any special needs the child may have.
